This page provides information about how we use data we collect through the Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund program and Patient Experience Survey.
ACT Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund
By accessing no cost services under the Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund, you agree to share your de-identified data to WHM for the purposes of administering and reporting on the Fund.
We know that unplanned pregnancy and/or seeking an abortion are sensitive topics. We take your privacy seriously.
The data we collect is de-identified – this means it does not include your name or contact information, and cannot be used to identify you. We only collect data about services you use as part of the Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund.
Your doctor or health professional will submit your data to WHM where it will be stored on a secure cloud-based platform managed by WHM.
The data provided through the Fund is separate from data and information your doctor may collect about you as part of their practice policy and procedures.
Your doctor or health professional may collect the following de-identified data:
- Your age range
- Your postcode
- Your access to Medicare
- Any interpreter or translator requests you make
- Date of your first appointment or visit
- The services they provide (e.g. consultations, counselling, prescriptions)
- Whether you decide to have Long-Acting Reversible Contraception, and what kind
- Any complications in your care
- Referrals they make to other services
At your first appointment with your doctor, they may also collect the following demographic data:
- Your gender
- If you are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- If you are lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer
- If you are intersex
- Your country of birth
- The language you speak at home
You can opt out of providing this demographic data at your first appointment if you wish to.
Patient Experience Survey
You may also wish to complete our voluntary and anonymous Patient Experience Survey. This survey is separate from and additional to data collected by your doctor and health professionals through the ACT Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund.
You do not have to fill out the Patient Experience Survey to access no cost services.
We apply same the same data security measures as other data collected through the Fund.
Why do you collect my data?
We collect your data to help us to understand the need for pregnancy options and abortion care across the ACT.
How will you use my data?
We will provide a summarised form of all de-identified data to meet our reporting requirements to ACT Health. We also use it to publish periodic updates on the outcomes of the Fund to advocate for and improve services which meet the needs of the community.
Who can access my data?
Your individual data will not be shared with other providers, individuals or agencies. Your data will only be shared or published by WHM in a de-identified, summarised form. It will not be possible to identify you.
Only staff who administer the Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund can access your de-identified data for the purposes outlined here. All staff who access the data are trained in and have agreed to the WHM Privacy Policy.
