In an emergency, or if you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call the police now on 000

If you are not in an emergency but you need information or anonymous support, please contact any of the services listed at the end of this page.

Each situation is unique, and you are the person who knows best what you need and any risks you might be facing.

There are many different situations where you might need healthcare while dealing with the impacts of violence.

  • You might need help with long term effects of violence on your health, such as chronic illnesses or mental health conditions
  • You might need urgent healthcare in relation to violence you’ve experienced, and/or
  • You might need ongoing healthcare that does not directly address any violence, but supports you to feel respected and be in charge of your wellbeing.

It can be challenging to get the healthcare you need. You are entitled to ask for healthcare providers to:

  • Help you feel comfortable and supported
  • Enable you to ask the questions that you need to
  • Look after your privacy and safety
