Bilingual Health Education
Whether you’re new to the ACT or have lived here your whole life, it’s important to know where to go for your health and have access to accurate health information when making decisions about your health.
To help with this, WHM’s Bilingual Health Education team delivers free health information to women and gender-diverse people from multicultural, migrant and refugee communities across the ACT on a range of topics including sexual and reproductive health, mental health and navigating the local health system to name a few.
Our team of highly skilled and accredited educators understand the lived experiences of, and challenges faced by migrant and refugee communities. The support and information provided by the team is completely free, culturally informed and sensitively delivered. Health education sessions can be developed and delivered in:
English
Cantonese
Hindi
Kannada
Khmer
Mandarin
Punjabi.
You can check out what the sessions will cover in more detail here.

Sexual and Reproductive Health
We know that it can feel awkward or difficult to talk about our sexual and reproductive health, even with a doctor or health professional. Sexual and reproductive health isn’t just about sex or reproductive organs, it includes all things related to our bodies and relationships – like healthy relationships, consent, periods, contraception and just generally understanding our bodies.
It is important to know about your health even if you aren’t having sex (now or in the future) or if you don’t yet know if you want to have children. Having access to quality, non-judgemental and supportive healthcare helps you to stay in control of your sexual and reproductive health.
As part of the Health in My Language program, our educators can share health information and support on the following topics:
- Contraception Choices
- Safer Sex
- Understanding Menopause
- Pregnancy Choices
If you would like to learn about any of these topics in-person or online, contact a.khan@womenshealthmatters.org.au
The Health in My Language – Sexual and Reproductive Health project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
