Victim Survivor Voices update October 2026

The Victim Survivor Voices program is preparing for a new round of consultations over the coming months, starting with law reform topics relating to protected confidences and the service of protection orders. Community members will have opportunities to contribute through surveys, written submissions, and consultation sessions. For more information on how you can take part, visit the Victim Survivor Voices webpage.

The program is also recruiting a new Program Co-ordinator, with the position currently advertised on Ethical Jobs.

In advocacy news, WHM and Sisters in Spirit Aboriginal Corporation recently contributed evidence to the ACT inquiry into the Crimes (Coercive Control) Amendment Bill 2026, drawing on consultation findings from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim survivors and ACCO workers. Our submission can be found here.

Rachelle Kelly-Church from Sisters in Spirit Aboriginal Corporation (SISAC) and Ursula De Ruyter from Women’s Health Matters (WHM) also submitted evidence in person at the public inquiry in August.

The Legal Inquiries Committee’s Inquiry Report has now been released, and WHM will continue to keep members updated as the Government responds to the recommendations in early 2027.
